Apsys and the City of Caen have received the “Mixed-use: City & developer Partnership Award” for the mixed-use project Les Rives de l’Orne. The award, which rewards the success and audacity of sustainable urban development projects, was created to highlight the dialogue, voluntarism and fruitful exchanges between urban development partners: communities, developers and architects.

MIXED-USE URBAN DEVELOPMENT: A FLAGSHIP PROJECT
CIn May, what was only a railway wasteland three years ago became the natural extension of Caen’s city centre, a strategic crossroads, a place to exchange and to meet, with, at its heart, Les Rives de l’Orne, a shopping and leisure space developed by Apsys, together with Sogecap and Crédit Agricole Normandie. The scheme, which combines retail, leisure, offices and urban spaces, develops a mixed-use approach that is rare in France.
Les Rives de l’Orne offers a pioneering conception of the city of tomorrow: multifunctional, open, ambitious, attractive, with a real retail offer. Together with the city of Caen, we shared a vision for the future of the city and of retail. This collaboration has helped enhance the city’s visibility and influence and has made for a greater balance in the conurbation’s retail offer, said Maurice Bansay, Founder and CEO of Apsys, when he received the award.
THE PROCOS AWARDS, THE PLACE TO BE FOR RETAIL AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS
The Procos Awards gather all the players of the French retail industry: brands, developers, elected representatives, Chambers of Commerce representatives. This year, the 260 Procos brands and the Award Organising Committee wished to reward an innovative, ever-renewed approach to retail. Five awards were given out : the Mixed-use: City & Developer Partnership Award, The Young Brand Award, The Award for Best Urban Product Supply System, and finally, the Procos Honour Award.
The Mixed-use: City & Developer Partnership Award touches me particularly, because it is awarded by specialized retail brands, who are our first customers and who, through their trust and dynamism, allow projects to become reality and for centres to be developed, Maurice Bansay said.
Xavier Le Coutour, 2nd Deputy Mayor in charge of urban development, housing and urban regeneration, who represented the city of Caen, declared, as he received the award, that he was happy and proud of the quality of the project, and paid tribute to the audacity and persistence Apsys had displayed to achieve this major project for the City of Caen.
